Dragonflies
Welcome back! We hope you all had an enjoyable Easter.
Our whole school topic this term is ‘Forests, Mines and Tourists.’ Our topic will be taught through Traditional stories
- The Three Little Pigs
- Goldilocks and the Three Bears
- Little Red Riding Hood
- The Little Red Hen
- Oliver’s Vegetables
- The Enormous Turnip
As part of our topic the children will visit the Dean Heritage Centre. We will be looking at different types of houses, both from the past and present. The children will be designing a house for the Three Little Pigs with a focus on materials and their properties.
They will also be exploring different maps and using the traditional stories to create their own maps. Further map activities can be found on the Summer homework document. This homework document also contains more details for English and Maths that is taught this term and how you can help your child at home. Please continue to hear your child read regularly. They receive a shiny for each entry into their communication book and are rewarded with a prize from the shiny shop which they love.
PE will continue to take place on Mondays. Our focus this term will be throwing, catching and some dance. We will also be starting some ‘bikeability’ sessions. We have some new balance bikes for your children to explore and this will develop their resilience and perseverance. These sessions will be run by Mrs Jones on a weekly basis.
Forest School sessions will continue too.
Finally, feel free to come and see a member of the team if you have any questions.
