We will begin the Autumn Term by focusing on the book Atticus Claw breaks the law by Jennifer Gray. We will focus on PSHE: relationships, making the right choices and overcoming challenges.
Our topic for the remainder of Autumn Term is ‘Rotten Romans’. During the topic, we will continue to learn about the Roman Empire and its Impact on Britain and the legacy of Roman culture. We will use our Geography skills to locate the Roman Empire, roads and place names. We will also go on an exciting trip to Caerleon.
In English, we will write non-Chronological reports about the Romans, write our own instructions for how to be a Roman Soldier, we will plan and write our own Roman story, write instructions and learn about myths and legends.
In Maths, we will focus on building and strengthening our knowledge of place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, area and perimeter.
In Science, we will be learning about states of matter and the roles of solids, liquids and gases.
We will develop our creative skills in Music, Art and DT by creating Roman Mosaics and Roman inventions. In Music, children will learn to recognise notes on a stave and the value of the notes. We will learn to read music to play notes. In PE we will be learning tag rugby, handball, football and dance.
In RE we will be learning about what it is like to follow God and what type of world Jesus wanted.
In Computing, we will learn how networks work and how data travels across the internet. We will learn how to search safely and manage our online information, including our privacy and security. We will also learn about the importance of Copyright and Ownership.
You will not need to bring your PE kits to school but you can wear your PE kits on our PE days.
Our PE days is a Friday.
We will be swimming from Monday 11th September until Monday 13th November.
Homework will be set at the start of the term on Seesaw. Children can upload their work to Seesaw at the end of the term or as they finish each task. If you would prefer a paper copy of the homework please contact the school to arrange this. Children will receive rewards for completed homework tasks.
You can support us by listening to your child read regularly, helping them learn their times tables and practicing their spellings. Children will receive a reward and a raffle ticket each time they read at home (you can sign their link book or they could upload a photo/video to Seesaw).
Children can become ‘Maths Champions’ and receive a special pencil when they know all the times tables for their year group: Y3: x2, x10, x5, x3, x4 and x8, Y4: all x tables up to 12 x 12.
